Farah Griffin: 'It's a dark day when Marjorie Taylor Greene is the voice of reason'

"The View" co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin said Thursday that it is “a dark day when Marjorie Taylor Greene is the voice of reason,” as the Georgia Republican has bucked her party on multiple issues amid the government shutdown.

“It’s a dark day when Marjorie Taylor Greene is the voice of reason, but like, you know what they say about a blind squirrel, so, I completely agree with her here,” Farah Griffin said on the ABC show in response to a clip of Greene talking about disagreement between parties amid the shutdown.

“I generally always oppose government shutdowns, but I especially do in this era, because I think a lot of us have had frustrations where we feel like the power of the presidency is growing to be too much,” Farah Griffin, a former President Trump staffer and now-outspoken critic of the president, said.

On Tuesday, Greene doubled down on recent remarks about Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies that set her apart from her party. The Georgia Republican has recently emerged as a prominent crack in the GOP’s resistance to extending ACA subsidies — the Democrats' sticking point in shutdown negotiations.

“The issues of the subsidies are real. It’s not something that anybody can say is made up,” Greene told NewsNation’s “The Hill” host Blake Burman on Tuesday.

“Also, people with regular or private plans, their premiums are looking to go up a median of 18 percent. That’s brutal," she said. "I know a lot of small-business owners, like a family of four, and they’re paying $2,000 a month.”

Earlier this week, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) argued that the end-of-year deadline to extend ACA subsidies was an “eternity” away.

“We have effectively three months to negotiate. In the White House and in the halls of Congress, that’s like an eternity,” Johnson told MSNBC’s Ali Vitali.

The Hill has reached out to Greene’s office for comment.
