Traffic alert: Pattullo Bridge closed northbound for four nights

The northbound lanes of the Pattullo Bridge will be closed to vehicle traffic for four nights as part of continuing work on the aging span’s replacement.

Southbound travel from New Westminster into Surrey will be unaffected, and the bridge will remain open northbound for pedestrians, cyclists and first responders.

The bridge will close northbound from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following mornings on:

• Thursday, June 26

• Friday, June 27

• Wednesday, July 2

• Thursday, July 3

“These closures are needed to safely install an expansion joint connecting the new bridge deck to the bridge approach in Surrey,” said TransLink in a news release.

Construction equipment will be in the northbound lanes on the existing bridge throughout the work.

People travelling north are advised to take the Port Mann or Alex Fraser bridges instead of the Pattullo. Late-night N19 bus trips between New West and Scott Road SkyTrain stations will be rerouted over the Alex Fraser and Queensborough bridges.

Drivers and transit-users should plan for up to 30 minutes of added travel time.
