On May 11, Will Bosi made the first ascent of Realm of Tor’ment V17 (9A). Located at Raven Tor in the UK, the limestone problem is an eight-move power line, ending matched on flake before a drop-off. The crux of the problems entails a deadpoint from an undercling to a flat edge, a single move that likely clocks in around V14. Bosi just released send footage of his ascent, which you can watch below.
“Grade wise I can talk more but it feels very similar to Spots of Time [V17] and it feels harder than any power based [V16] I’ve done,” said Bosi on Instagram about the difficulty of Realm of Tor’ment. “So low end [V17] makes sense but as always I’m very excited to see more people on it and get more opinions.”
Bosi’s hard bouldering resume is unmatched. With Realms of Tor’ment, he now has five V17 ascents to his name. In October 2022, he climbed his first of the grade, making the third ascent of Shawn Raboutou’s Alphane. Less than six months later, he bagged his second V17 with his second ascent of Nalle Hukkataival’s Burden of Dreams. In February last year, he made the second ascent of Daniel Woods’ Return of the Sleepwalker in Red Rock, Nevada. In October that same year, he surprised many with a rapid second ascent of Aidan Roberts’ Spots of Time.
