Surrey police are investigating an extortion-related shooting early Wednesday morning at a business in the Newton neighbourhood.

Shortly after 2 a.m., members of the Surrey Police Service responded to reports of a shooting in the 8000-block of King George Boulevard.

Police say when they arrived the business had been damaged by gunshots. No one was injured.

Investigators say while the motive for the shooting is still under investigation, it appears to be related to the ongoing series of extortions in Surrey.
