Korean Climber Sends V16 in a Session

Hyunbin Min recently made the fourth ascent of United V16 (8C+) in Mizugaki, Japan. The problem is sit-start to Toru Nakajima’s burly test-piece, Decided V14. The sit start adds five hard moves into the beginning of Decided, which by themselves amount to V14.

United was first climbed Ryuichi Murai in 2019. Shawn Raboutou made the second ascent while on a visit to Japan last year. Daisuke Ichimiya got the third ascent earlier this year.

Incredibly, Min sent United in a single session after first topping out Decided. This is likely the first single-session V16 send ever. “I still can’t believe…” wrote Min on Instagram. Interestingly, a couple of weeks ago Hamish McArthur sent No One Mourns the Wicked V17 in under three hours.

Now 36, Min was a longtime competitor on the IFSC World Cup circuit, participating mostly in lead comps from 2008 to 2024. He has many Lead World Cup podium finishes.
