Zelensky Secures Diplomatic Backing for Black Sea Grain Routes
President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on Sept. 4 that diplomatic decisions are being prepared to secure Black Sea food transportation. Addressing the threat of a global food crisis, Zelensky confirmed ongoing talks regarding export corridors with Egypt, Turkey, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia. The diplomatic push coincides with Ukraine’s efforts to establish alternative export routes following intensified Russian strikes on Odesa port infrastructure, which prompted a reduction in the 2026-27 grain export forecast to 38-40 million tons.
