Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (D) is speaking Tuesday morning about the rise of political violence during a summit in Pittsburgh.
Calls against violence have rung out from both sides of the aisle in recent days following the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk last week. Republicans, including President Trump, have ramped up their attacks on Democrats and left-leaning groups in the wake of the incident. Shapiro has pushed back on those attacks, calling it a "rhetoric of rage."
The Pennsylvania governor's comments also come after he was targeted in an alleged assassination attempt earlier this year, when his home was set on fire while his family slept inside.
His remarks at the Eradicate Hate Global Summit are scheduled to begin at 11:10 a.m. EDT.
