Vancouver police are looking for a flame-shirted, fedora-wearing suspect after a man was allegedly hit several times with a longboard in an unprovoked attack at a bus stop in Marpole.
Just before 9:30 a.m. on July 7, the victim was waiting for a bus near Southwest Marine Drive and Ash Street when he says a man approached from behind, pushed him and ripped the headphones off his head.
“The suspect then allegedly struck the victim multiple times with a longboard-style skateboard,” said VPD Const. Darren Wong in a statement on Monday.
The victim managed to run away and call 911, and only had minor injuries to his forearm.
Investigators are sharing a cellphone photo of the suspect and asking anyone who saw the alleged attack or drivers with dashcam footage from the area last Tuesday to call the Vancouver police non-emergency line at 604-717-3321.
Washroom voyeur arrested in Delta
Police in Delta are investigating a report of a hidden camera set up in a staff washroom in a business in the Tilbury area.
On June 23, investigators received a report of a suspected recording device that was allegedly being used in the washroom.
Police are working with the business to “secure evidence, identify anyone who may have been affected, and ensure there is no ongoing risk,” said Staff Sgt. Mike Whiteley in a news release on Monday.
A suspect was arrested and released with conditions on July 7 as the investigation continues.
“At this stage, investigators believe the incident was isolated to this workplace, and there is no information to suggest a broader risk to the public,” said Whiteley.
“These investigations are highly sensitive and involve significant privacy considerations. To protect the integrity of the investigation and the privacy of those potentially affected, no further details are being released at this time.”
With recording devices getting smaller and more easily accessible, Delta police are warning people to stay alert in places where they should expect privacy. Any suspicious device should be reported immediately.
