Guilty plea in 2023 death of Abbotsford man

A man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of an Abbotsford man in 2023.

Chanchal Badwal, 48, was charged with killing Imtiaz Hussain, 62.

Hussain was found dead in the 31000-block of Madeira Place on July 18, 2023, in what the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team described as an “isolated incident” between two people who knew each other.

At the time, police arrested Badwal and he was charged the next day.

Last Friday, Badwal pleaded guilty to manslaughter in Abbotsford provincial court. His next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 20.


North Vancouver RCMP search for break-and-enter suspect

Mounties are searching for a woman in an October break-and-enter of a North Vancouver home.

North Van RCMP released images of a woman who allegedly broke into a home in the 200-block of Sandringham Crescent on Oct. 12.

CCTV cameras captured the woman entering the home through an unlocked side garage door at 6:10 a.m. that day and leaving with several items, police said.

“Efforts to identify the suspect through traditional methods have been unsuccessful, and we are now appealing to the public to help identify the suspect caught on CCTV,” said RCMP spokesman Cpl. Mansoor Sahak.

She is described as about 40 to 50 yeas old and about 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-10. She was wearing a light baseball hat, a light-coloured hoodie with reflective writing on the chest, dark pants and dark Converse runners.
