Vogue names new editor

Vouge has selected a new editor to succeed fashion titan Anna Wintour.

Chloe Malle, the former editor of Vouge.com and host of its weekly fashion podcast "The Run-Through," will take over as Head of Editorial Content for American Vogue this week.

Malle is a longtime editor at the magazine, joining the fashion and culture publication in 2011, when she was named to helm the company's social media content. She has since spearheaded coverage and contributing across a wide range of topics, including fashion, politics, homes and gardens, beauty and health.

She takes over for Wintour, who Malle will report directly to and will remain with the company as chief content officer.

“I know that some people who were interested in this job were sort of daunted by the idea of Anna being down the hall,” Malle told the New York Times in an interview. “I’m very happy she’s down the hall with her Clarice Cliff pottery.”

Vouge is owned by Conde Nast, one of the largest media conglomerates in the United States that is fighting through pressure to grow subscriptions, an increasingly difficult digital advertising market and trend of more people turning to content creators and social media personalities over legacy media brands.
