Lawmakers say consuming teeth-strengthening mineral should be ‘individual choice’ as dentists oppose move

Utah has become the first US state to ban fluoride in public drinking water, despite widespread opposition from dentists and national health organizations.

The Republican governor, Spencer Cox, signed legislation late on Thursday that bars cities and communities from deciding whether to add the mineral to their water systems.
