The Coquihalla Highway remains closed northbound between Hope and Merritt after a semi-trailer fire sparked a wildfire on Monday evening.
It happened shortly after 9 p.m. near the Coldwater Road exit on the Coquihalla. Police have not said how the trailer first caught on fire.
The fire had spread to the nearby forested area.
The B.C. Wildfire Service responded and as of Tuesday at noon, the fire is under control and not expected to spread further.
The northbound lanes will remain closed Tuesday afternoon from Merritt until six kilometres north of Hope, while environment cleanup of toxic material is underway.
Drivers are advised to take Highway 1 or Highway 3 as an alternative route to connect with Highway 5A.
