Melina Costanza Climbs V13 in Utah

Melina Costanza has climbed Eclipse Sit V13 in Little Cottonwood Canyon, Utah. Eclipse was established by Ben Moon and received the grade of V12. The sit start variation ups the difficult of the climb V13. Costanza sent both the sit and stand variations of Eclipse and flashed Ditch Witch Sit V10.

“I’m a sucker for a good pogo, let alone 2 back to back,” said Costanza on Instagram. “First day in the SWAMP – put down both eclipse 12 and the sit 13, wrapped with a flash of ditch witch sit v10.”

Costanza, 25, is having one of her best years ever. Since October 2024, she’s topped two V14s, two V13s, and two V12s. Her first V14 was in November 2024 with Direct North in the Buttermilks, California. Late last month, she topped her second V14, Mantra. Prior to Eclipse, she had a couple V13s her name, including After Hours in Huntington Canyon, Utah and Green in the Face at Castle Rocks, Idaho.

Costanza is well-known for her comp climbing accomplishments. In September, she competed in the World Championships in Seoul. It was her first World Championship event, and she podiumed, receiving bronze next to Janja Garnbret (gold) and Oriane Bertone (silver). In 2024, she was a member of Team USA’s Boulder and Lead National Teams. She’s a five-time USA National Champion and a regular competitor in international IFSC events. She won her first USA National Championship in 2021 in bouldering. In both 2023 and 2024, she was the double-champ, winning gold in both Boulder and Lead.
