No longer Sour Patch Kids, company says

(WJW) – An iconic candy brand says it has a new name.

They're no longer Sour Patch Kids, the company announced this week on social platform X. Instead, according to the post, it is "JUST Patch Kids" now.

“Our decision is final,” the company wrote. “We cannot stand by and be called ‘not sour’ in our comments. You don’t appreciate our sour, so we’re taking it back.”

“We’re not sour AT ALL anymore,” they added.

“You never realize what you have until its sour then sweet then gone," the post ended. "Hope it was worth it."

It’s also important to note April Fools’ Day is just around the corner.

The candy has previously undergone a name change, however. When first rolled out in the 1970s, they were called “Mars Men" and later rebranded as “Sour Patch Kids” in the 1980s.

Nexstar's WJW reached out to the company for comment but did not immediately hear back.
