Surrey PD are searching for this man, suspected of robbing a bank in Surrey in the 13700 block of King George Junction on Friday. He was last seen crossing Whalley Boulevard at Fraser Highway.

Law enforcement is on the hunt for a man who eluded Surrey police patrols after allegedly holding up a bank in the 13700 block of George Junction on Friday.

Around 9:45 a.m., there were reports of a robbery after a man entered the bank and demanded money from a teller. He then left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money and was last seen crossing Whalley Boulevard at Fraser Highway.

Despite SPS officers’ response, the suspect was not found. He’s described as a heavy-set Indigenous man with a short beard, wearing a grey hoodie, white pants, black shoes and sunglasses.

Business owner in stable condition after altercation with knife-wielding thief

A robbery gone wrong has left an Abbotsford business owner with life-threatening injuries and a suspect behind bars.

On Saturday morning, a stabbing at a business located near the intersection of Townline Road and Maclure Road was reported. They found a man who had been stabbed during an altercation with another man allegedly trying to steal from his business.

The victim was transported to hospital, where he is in stable condition. The suspect — who had fled the scene before police arrived — was tracked to the backyard of a nearby residence.

Police arrested a 40-year-old man — who was on statutory release from a previous violent offence — and he remains in custody.

Investigators ask that anyone who was in the area between 9:15 a.m. and 10 a.m. and either witnessed the incident or have dashcam footage, to contact police at 604-859-5225 and cite file 2025-34062.


Sobriety check sees driver bolt, then get arrested

A woman who allegedly fled from a police DUI check is now facing charges after Port Moody Police were forced to chase her down.

Around 9:55 p.m. on Friday, Port Moody officers were conducting a roadblock on Murray Street when they flagged down a grey Audi SUV after there were concerns the driver may be impaired by alcohol. The driver immediately drove off from the check stop but was quickly located in Suter Brook Village, where officers used their vehicles to box it in.

Officers arrested the female driver, who was later transported to the police cellblock. Police are recommending charges relating to fleeing from officers and impaired driving.

“Impaired drivers pose significant risk to all road users and we urge those who intend on consuming alcohol or other impairing substances to plan a safe ride home,” said Port Moody Const. Sam Zacharias. “This driver was one of three impaired motorists removed from Port Moody roads last night — all within the span of about an hour.”
