Charges have been laid against a man in connection with a theft and sexual assault in separate incidents in Surrey in August.
Kulwinder Mann, 42, has been arrested and is in custody, and will appear in court today, where three charges have been sworn against him: theft under $5,000, sexual assault, and assault.
At around 3 a.m. on Aug. 26, a man walking in the 9800- block of King George Boulevard in Surrey was approached by an adult South Asian male who he didn’t know. During their interaction, the stranger allegedly stole the man’s cellphone.
Shortly after, a woman walking in the same area was approached by the same person, who — following a brief interaction — allegedly pushed her into a nearby bush and sexually assaulted her before leaving the area on foot.
Surrey police’s Special Investigation Section was contacted and assumed conduct of the probe, and after requesting the public’s assistance on Aug. 27, identified Mann as the suspect.
