Burnaby RCMP have released video and photos of a suspect in a sex assault last month in a city park.
Police allege the assault took place on Feb. 6, shortly after 7:45 p.m. at Lobley Park, in the southwest corner near Grimmer Street and Dunblane Avenue.
The RCMP said the victim, a woman in her 30s, said she was walking through the park when she was grabbed from behind by an unknown man.
The man put one hand over the victim’s mouth and with the other hand he touched her groin and buttocks, police said. They said she fought back against the man and he then ran off through the park towards Marlborough Avenue.
A police dog was unable to locate the man.
“We are asking the public to take a close look at these photos and video,” said Corp. Laura Hirst, a spokesperson for the Burnaby RCMP.
“If you know this person or recognize him, we are asking you to call our investigators.”
Police describe the man as 5’8″ to 5’11″, medium build, and between 30 and 40 years old.
Anyone with information about this individual is asked to contact the Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
