Fire burning near Cedarvale impacting Hwy 16 traffic

A wildfire has sparked in northwestern B.C. causing traffic to be affected along Highway 16 just west of Cedarvale.

The blaze is burning adjacent to the highway and RCMP officers are directing traffic until flaggers arrive. Motorists can expect to see smoke.

By exact location the fire is approximately 23 km southwest of the Highway 37 intersection at Kitwanga and 68 km northeast of Terrace.

BC Wildfire Service firefighters are being assisted by the Gitwangak Fire Department.

The fire was last estimated to be 40 hectares in size and it is suspected to be human caused.
