Premier David Eby is set to make an address Tuesday afternoon, as talks of a possible snap election continue to ramp up.
The news conference is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. and will take place at Government House in Victoria, the official residence of the lieutenant-governor and “the ceremonial home of all British Columbians.”
A snap election, if called, would come two years ahead of schedule.
The news conference comes as the B.C. Conservatives continue their efforts to recover following Kerry-Lynne Findlay’s resignation as leader. Cariboo-Chilcotin MLA Lorne Doerkson was named interim leader on Sunday, with his first order of business Monday being to welcome defectors back into the party’s fold.
Meanwhile, eight other former B.C. Conservative MLAs have joined forces as part of a new centre right party. The unnamed party later announced it would be merger under Mike Bernier’s CentreBC banner, with Bernier stepping aside to allow Peter Milobar to serve as leader of the newly amalgamated group.
