Watch live: Indiana, Texas Democrats push back against mid-decade redistricting

A group of Indiana Democrats will join their Texas counterparts in Chicago on Wednesday afternoon to rail against what they have denounced as mid-decade gerrymandering ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

Their remarks come as the Trump administration is turning its attention to other red states, including Indiana, to follow Texas’s lead in the redistricting battle. Vice President Vance visited the Hoosier State last week to meet with Gov. Mike Braun (R) amid the chatter, though the governor did not make any commitments.

"Texas House Democrats will stand in solidarity with Indiana Democrats who are fighting the same corrupt scheme to let politicians choose their voters instead of voters choosing their politicians," the press release reads.

"The multi-state effort demonstrates that [President] Trump's nationwide redistricting pressure campaign faces growing resistance from Democratic lawmakers willing to join House Democrats and defend their constituents’ representation," it adds.

The press conference is scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. EDT.
