The southbound lanes of the Pattullo Bridge will be closed heading into Surrey for three nights for construction work on the replacement project for the aging span.
All southbound lanes, including access for southbound pedestrians and cyclists, will be closed between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. the following day on:
• Thursday, Nov. 27
• Friday, Nov. 28
• Sunday, Nov. 30
Northbound travel into New Westminster will not be affected.
“These closures are needed to secure a new overhead directional traffic sign along King George Boulevard,” said TransLink. “The large sign will be installed over the right lane of the replacement bridge, before the Scott Road exit ramp.”
During the work, heavy equipment including a drill rig will block traffic lanes near the south side of the existing bridge. For safety, both southbound lanes need to be closed.
Drivers who need to cross into Surrey should use either the Port Mann or Alex Fraser bridges. The N19 NightBus will also be rerouted over the Alex Fraser and Queensborough bridges between New West and Scott Road stations. Drivers and transit-users should plan for up to 30 added minutes of travel time.
Signs will indicate the traffic pattern changes, and traffic control workers will be on-site.
