President Trump will speak with European allies on Wednesday morning, two days before he is set to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Leaders are working to guard against the worst-case scenario: Trump aligning Putin to push a bad deal for Ukraine.
While the president has expressed increased frustration with Putin and Russia’s attacks on Ukraine, he this week reverted to criticisms that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is to blame for stating the war. Zelensky will not be at the Alaska summit.
Following the call, Trump switches gears and heads to the Kennedy Center, where he'll announce the next class of Kennedy Center Honors recipients.
On Tuesday, he praised the “great nominees” who are poised to be announced for what he’s dubbing the “Kennedy Center Awards,” teasing that his name could possibly replace that of the 35th president on the historic institution.
