The Pattullo Bridge will be closed in both directions to motorists over the May long weekend for construction work on the replacement bridge.
The bridge connecting Surrey and New Westminster closes to vehicle traffic at 9 p.m. on Friday, May 16, and reopens at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20. Pedestrians and cyclists will still have access.
Crews working on the Pattullo replacement project will be installing drainage and finishing foundations for new approaches. Excavations over the weekend will be blocking access and bridge lanes will be taken up by equipment.
Drivers who would normally take the Pattullo are encouraged to use either the Port Mann or Alex Fraser bridge. Trips of the N19 NightBus between New West and Scott Road SkyTrain stations will be rerouted over the Alex Fraser and Queensborough bridges.
Signs will be in place to indicate route changes and traffic controllers will be on-site. Expect about 30 minutes extra travel time during the closure.
