
Vancouver police have arrested a man in a stranger attack in the Downtown Eastside.
A 50-year-old man bleeding from the face approached police officers near East Hastings and Main streets just before 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
He told police he was hit with a small axe by a stranger, who then stole his sunglasses. His injuries were minor.
The officers, who were on foot patrol as part of Vancouver Police Department’s Task Force barrage targeting Downtown Eastside crime, found the suspect nearby and arrested him.
Steven Henry Hall, 30, has been charged with robbery and breach of probation.
Hall has a lengthy criminal history, including assault, theft, weapons possession, and numerous breaches of probation. His next court appearance is on May 27 in Vancouver provincial court.
