Trump hits GOP 'grandstanders,' urges party to pass 'big, beautiful bill'

President Trump on Friday urged Republicans to fall in line and support the massive reconciliation package amid sparring among members on the Hill over various provisions.

"Republicans MUST UNITE behind, 'THE ONE, BIG BEAUTIFUL BILL!'" Trump posted on Truth Social from his flight back to Washington from the Middle East.

Trump argued the law would cut taxes and kick immigrants who are living in the country illegally off Medicaid.

"The Country will suffer greatly without this Legislation, with their Taxes going up 65%. It will be blamed on the Democrats, but that doesn’t help our Voters," Trump posted. "We don’t need 'GRANDSTANDERS' in the Republican Party. STOP TALKING, AND GET IT DONE! It is time to fix the MESS that Biden and the Democrats gave us."

Some conservative Republicans in the House have expressed concerns that the legislation adds to the deficit and does not sufficiently cut spending. Some moderate Republicans from high-tax blue states are pushing to increase the state and local tax deduction cap, which hard-liners are against.

The final House version must also pass the Senate, where some lawmakers have raised reservations about the product coming out of the House.
