Convicted killer pleads guilty to separate South Surrey manslaughter

Two men were killed and one critically injured during a 2023 shooting at South Surrey Athletic Park. Bryce Campbell was convicted of the shooting, and pled guilty to manslaughter in a separate incident involving a 2022 shooting, also in South Surrey.

A man already behind bars for life for a previous murder conviction pleaded guilty Thursday to another killing.

Bryce Dallas Campbell, who was convicted on two counts of second-degree murder and a third count of attempted murder in February, pleaded guilty to manslaughter this week in the April 2022 killing of White Rock’s David Goldstein.

Goldstein, 33, was shot in a house at 15262 24 Ave in South Surrey, and died after being taken to hospital. Police said the shooting was targeted.

Campbell, 28, had been charged with first-degree murder in his death , but pleaded guilty to manslaughter at the Supreme Court of B.C. in New Westminster on Thursday.

“Securing this conviction against Mr. Campbell was made possible by the specialized resources at IHIT, the persistence shown by the investigators, and our ability to work with our partner agencies,” said Integrated Homicide Investigation Team Sgt. Freda Fong.

“It is our hope that today’s proceedings will help the victim’s family in their healing journey. We are grateful for their trust and support throughout this investigation.”

RCMP attend the scene at 15262 24 Ave after David Goldstein was gunned down by Bryce Dallas Campbell in 2022.

In 2022, Campbell was at the centre of another blaze of bullets, this time a triple shooting at South Surrey Athletic Park that left two men dead and another with life threatening injuries.

Jordan Krishna, Robeen Soreni and Harbir Khosa were all found with gunshot wounds in what police called a targeted attack connected to the Lower Mainland gang war, with both Krishna and Soreni dying of their injuries.

IHIT arrested Campbell, of Surrey, on Aug. 5, 2022. Several locations around the Lower Mainland were searched and evidence was gathered, and a few weeks later Campbell was charged.

In February of this year, a jury found Campbell guilty of all three counts; two charges of second-degree murder and one of attempted murder. Murder carries an automatic life sentence, but his period of parole ineligibility for that crime has yet to be determined.

In 2020, Campbell was part of an assault on a Surrey man who was being beaten with a baton by another man. When the victim fought back, Campbell pulled out an imitation gun and participated in the attack, leaving the victim with massive bruises, significant blood loss, a broken finger, staples in his hand and chronic head pain.

Campbell was sentenced to 22 months in jail in 2023 for assault causing bodily harm and using an imitation firearm, with a pretrial credit of 391.5 days for time served. He also had 24 months of probation after being released.
