Italian Gianluca Vighetti, 17, has climbed his first 5.15a with the well-known Lapsus in Andonno. He’d previously climbed two 5.14d routes with TCT and Cobra Reale.
Vighetti, who won the European Youth Lead Cup in Toulouse three weeks ago, said that he focused on Lapsus because it’s the only 5.15a near his home, and because he’d already climbed the 5.14c route, Noia, that climbs into it. Vighetti said he tried the line two years ago, but wasn’t able to do any of the moves.
Lapsus links Noia, Italy’s first 5.14c, into the upper portion of Anaconda. A series of hard moves links the two routes, meaning the whole line ends up feeling like two 5.14c’s stacked on top of each other.
Vighetti noted on 8a.nu, “After all the training in these years I improved my finger strength and I decided to come back. I was expecting to struggle a lot more with this route, but, in the end, it went quicker than expected. In total, it took eight sessions for the send. I really loved trying these wonderful routes.”
