On Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at 90 years old, our precious wife and mother Nancy Jean Bolen passed away very peacefully, surrounded by her loving family who will miss her, love her and remember her always.
She was born in March 1935 in Smithers, BC to Jack and Claudia Price from Houston, BC where she enjoyed life on the farm until she moved to the “city” in Smithers. She worked at Rexall Drug Store and later the Bay where she inspired shoppers with her beautiful store displays.
Mom met the love of her life Gerry Bolen, they married and shared life for over 60 years. Together as a team, they raised three children Lisa (Geroge Trainor), Kevin (Shannon Bolen) and Natalie (Ross Macaulay), cared for a large garden of nutritious vegetables, and maintained a spectacular Fall Fair prize winning flower garden. Flowers were Mom’s passion and she shared it with everyone who intentionally drove past her yard to enjoy the beauty. Mom also beautified the Sanctuary at the Anglican Church for many years with her amazing floral arrangements. Mom shared her artistic, floral and baking creative talents with her beloved grandchildren Geri, Merisa, George, Katlyn, Leslie, Kari, Michelle, Tyler, Carter and Morgan and numerous great grandchildren who will all remember her as they plant and nurture their own artistic talents, flower gardens or share a tea party and some of Gramma’s caramel and brownies with their loved ones. Mom and Dad built their dream home together and as a devoted hard working couple they were able to thrive and live independently at their home, cook their own meals, grow their garden and can and preserve their harvest right up until Mom passed away. All who knew Mom will remember her for her hard work, determination and passion for flowers. Though she is no longer with us, each time our flowers blossom and bloom we will remember Mom lovingly. We will miss her, love her and remember her always. We would like to thank Dr. Preto and Dr. McLeod, all of the compassionate homecare staff, all of the staff at the Bulkley Valley District Hospital and a special thank you to her devoted nurse, her granddaughter, Michelle.
Mom’s memory is forever in our hearts and gardens.
