That’s maybe not the best retirement planning.

The RCMP’s strike force unit, after a months-long investigation, arrested the suspect in a bank robbery from last September — a 64-year-old Burnaby man.

Officers, including emergency response team members, searched a South Burnaby address on Jan. 14, arresting the man and seizing two firearms.

On Sept. 26, 2025, a bank in the Kingsway and Edmonds Street area was robbed. Police said the robber, who had reportedly used a gun in the offence, fled before officers arrived.

The investigation continues.

A white, two-door pickup with a black canopy and its driver are being sought by police after a hit and run last Friday.

Pedestrian struck by pickup in Langford intersection

Police on Vancouver Island are searching for a white pickup after a hit-and-run accident that left a man with serious injuries was caught on dashcam.

It happened on Friday, Jan. 16, at the intersection of Langford Parkway and Phipps Road in Langford. A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle that failed to remain at the scene of the accident.

Police viewed a witness’s dash camera footage and determined the 40-year-old male pedestrian was crossing the intersection eastbound when he was hit by a white pickup that drove through a red light going north.

“After reviewing the footage, investigators believe it is highly unlikely that the suspect driver in this situation did not know that they hit a pedestrian,” said RCMP Cpl. Nancy Saggar.

The man sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Police are seeking the public assistance in identifying both the truck and the driver of the vehicle, described as a two-door, white pickup with a black canopy. It was last scene heading north on Phipps Rd.

If you can identify the truck and/or the driver, please call the West Shore RCMP at (250) 474-2264.

Alternatively, if you have a dash camera and were travelling near the intersection of Phipps Rd and Langford Parkway on Jan. 16 at approximately 5:36 p.m., you may have relevant footage that can assist the investigation.
