Arthur Poindefert, who’s projecting 5.15 and has established test-piece alpine climbs, recently redpointed Digital Crack 5.13 in the Alps only to haul his cello to the top and play it.
Playing instruments in the mountains is nothing new, but we’ve never seen anyone send a 5.13 trad route then haul a cello to the top to play a famous piece of classical music. The song Poindefert is playing is called Bach’s Cello Suite No. 1 in G major.
After sending Digital Crack, Poindefert, who’s projecting Super Crackinette 5.15a, made the first ascent of Géant dans l’âme on the north face of Dent du Géant in Mont Blanc massif with Mathis Garayt and Kilian Moni – a new 500-metre M8+ ED line.
Watch Poindefert play and check out his new alpine climb.
