It wasn’t the high seas, but drama nonetheless.
The Vancouver police marine unit boarded and searched a boat moored in False Creek after receiving reports of someone firing a gun with a suppressor into the water on Sunday evening.
At around 6 p.m. on Sunday, the marine unit and emergency response team boarded the vessel Night Shadow, finding four individuals aboard, who were arrested.
After the boat was towed to a secure location, a warrant was obtained to search it. Police then found a chrome handgun, multiple gun parts — including a large, extended magazine — as well as several suppressors.
Suppressors are devices fitted to the barrel of a gun to reduce the noise and muzzle blast when guns are fired. They’re prohibited in Canada.
Also found were several small bags of what police suspect to be crystal meth and fentanyl, along with the chemicals, dyes, scales and utensils used for cooking drugs.
Charges have not been laid. The investigation continues.
