Motorcyclist killed in crash north of Ladysmith

A 40-year-old motorcyclist is dead after an early morning collision with a semi-truck north of Ladysmith on Monday, May 25.

At about 4:40 a.m. Ladysmith RCMP received a report of a crash in the southbound lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway at Timberlands Road.

In spite of life-saving measures, RCMP said the 40-year-old motorcycle driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

An RCMP traffic reconstructionist was called to the scene to assist with the investigation into the leading cause of the crash. The highway was re-opened at approximately 8:30 a.m. The investigation is ongoing.
