The Westham Island Bridge connecting Delta and a floating home in the Ladner neighbourhood remains closed to vehicle traffic Wednesday, following an incident involving a marine vessel.
Pedestrians are being escorted across the bridge and the city says safety measures are in place. The city has not provided any details about what happened but reports suggest a barge hit the bridge on Tuesday.
Delta staff say they have established a temporary shuttle service to help residents who have crossed the bridge on foot with where they need to go in Ladner.
TransLink is also assessing options to provide shuttle services, should the closure continue.
