Vancouver Rise FC name Shannon Woeller and Quinn as 2026 captains

The Vancouver Rise FC have named Shannon Woeller and Quinn as the 2026 team captains.

“We are pleased to announce Shannon and Quinn as team captains,” said Anja Heiner-Møller, Rise FC head coach. “Shannon was the first signing for our club, and our first captain, and we can’t wait to get her back on the field. Quinn has always led by example, and they are someone that all players naturally look to. We’re looking forward to a great season together.”

Woeller was the captain alongside Samantha Chang for the first half of the 2025 season and started in 14 matches before tearing her ACL in the Aug. 2 match against the Ottawa Rapid. She had to miss the rest of the season.

Quinn led the Rise FC in assists in the 2025 season and recorded six goals in 21 appearances. They have also played in over 100 matches for the Canadian national team and have won both Olympic gold and bronze medals.

Vancouver Rise are part of Canada’s first professional women’s soccer league, the Northern Super League, which debuted in 2025. The other clubs are Calgary Wild FC, Halifax Tides FC, Montréal Roses, Ottawa Rapid FC and AFC Toronto.

The Vancouver Rise FC kick off their second season with the first home match against AFC Toronto. The last time the two teams faced off was in the Northern Super League championship match, which Rise FC won 2-1.
