On September 29, Jorge Díaz-Rullo sent El Cobrador del Flash V14 (8B+) in Santa María del Espino, Spain. He topped the boulder problem after just three tries. After taking it down so quickly, he also explored a sit-start variation of the problem that remains a project. “[It’s] probably around 9A/V7,” said Díaz-Rullo. “Feels insanely hard, next level, but I’ll probably be back to try it again another time.” He just released a video of his El Cobrador del Flash send, which you can view below.
Díaz-Rullo’s ascent of El Cobrador del Flash V14 came at the end of a very successful week of climbing. On September 23, he onsighted Memento 5.14a and MotivAcción 5.14b in Cueva del Arenal, Spain. The ascents were his 15th 5.14a onsight and sixth 5.14b onsight.
A few days later, on September 27, he made the second ascent of Secaina 5.14d (9a) in La Pedriza near his hometown of Madrid. “I had already tried this route three years ago, and now that I am currently home, I had to return. Duties are duties,” he said on Instagram. The route which features a mono crux was put up by Beto Rocasolano. Díaz-Rullo believes the route to be soft for the grade, or potentially not even 5.14d. “Although the single crux move was a big challenge for me, I still have many doubts about its actual difficulty,” he said.
Diaz-Rullo has had a solid year. He spent months working his mega-project Cafe Colombia – a likely 5.15d – getting very close to a send. Highlights from 2025 include a successful season in Briançon where he sent La prophétie des grenouilles 5.14d, Don Caméléon 5.14c, The Famous Gem 5.14d, and Pastis 5.14c. In 2024, he sent Adam Ondra’s Change 5.15b/c and Move 5.15b/c in Flatanger, as well as Chris Sharma’s Sleeping Lion 5.15b in Siurana and Stoking the Fire 5.15b in Santa Linya. He also topped his first V16 that year, Muerte por Asfixia in La Pedriza.
