Vancouver Island teacher suspended for 15 years after child-luring conviction

A Vancouver Island teacher is not allowed to teach for a period of 15 years after she was found guilty of a child-luring charge.

Kelsey Macrae Blake was charged with four counts of sexual offences pertaining to a minor in 2023. In 2025, she was found guilty of one charge of child luring, and the other three charges were stayed. Blake received a three-year probation order, a suspended sentence and was required to pay a victim surcharge of $200.

BC Prosecution Service confirmed that the charges were filed in Port Hardy. The date range for each of the allegations was September 6 to December 2, 2022, at or near Port McNeill.

Her licence was cancelled in November 2023 for non-payment.

Two months after Blake’s sentence, she was terminated by the school district.

Last week, the BC Commissioner for Teacher Regulation published a consent resolution agreement, where Blake agreed to not apply for a teacher qualification in B.C. The identity of the student involved is protected under a court-ordered publication ban.

“Blake engaged in criminal misconduct that undermines public trust in the teaching profession,” the consent agreement says. “Blake used her privileged position of power and trust to exploit a minor for sexual advantage,” adding that she “violated a student’s physical and emotional safety and wellbeing.”
