Police are searching for drivers who may have dashboard camera footage to share following a collision between an SUV and a motorcycle that has left a man with life-changing injuries.
On Saturday around 11:15 a.m., police said a black Harley Davidson motorcycle and a dark green Toyota SUV collided on Highway 17 and Tsawwassen Drive in Delta. Debris from the collision, which disrupted ferry traffic for hours, also struck a second SUV, a grey Honda.
The motorcyclist was identified as a 37-year-old Port Alberni man who is expected to survive but could be facing life-changing injuries. There were no other injuries and all drivers involved remained at the scene.
A police investigation is now underway and B.C. Highway Patrol is hoping other drivers in the area may have dashboard camera footage that can help piece together the events leading up to the collision.
“The minutes leading up to the collision, and the moments before the collision, are crucially important to the investigation,” said Cpl. Michael McLaughlin.
“If you were in the area and saw these vehicles, or have dash camera footage, you could really help police by sharing what you saw.”
