Predators’ Roman Josi exits vs. Flames with lower-body injury

As if the Nashville Predators haven’t suffered enough to start the season, they may also be without their captain.

Defenceman Roman Josi was ruled out for the remainder of Tuesday’s game against the Calgary Flames due to a lower-body injury.

Though it’s unclear when he suffered the injury, he did not come out for the second period. He had recorded just 5:32 in ice time before exiting.

This is yet another injury blow for the Predators, who are already down Gustav Nyquist, Ryan O’Reilly and Jeremy Lauzon.

The former Norris Trophy winner has been an offensive bright spot for the struggling Predators, scoring seven goals and registering 16 assists to lead the team with 23 points. His seven markers are tied for second, behind only Filip Forsberg, who has nine.

The 34-year-old was selected in the second round of the 2008 NHL Draft and was named captain ahead of the 2017-18 season following the departure of Shea Weber.

The Predators currently sit last in the NHL with a 7-15-6 record and minus-27 goal differential.
