Plea for info in Richmond massage clinic sex assault investigation

Police in Richmond are asking anyone with information about an alleged sexual assault by a massage therapist last year to come forward.

In August 2024, Richmond RCMP got a report of the alleged assault during a massage treatment at a clinic in the 8000-block of Alexandra Road.

Last month, police issued an arrest warrant for 52-year-old Jiajian Sun, also known as Dr. Ken, of Richmond. He has been charged with one count of sexual assault.

Sun was arrested on June 18 and released with conditions that include not being alone with any patient or client during his work as a massage therapist.

“Allegations of sexual assault by someone in a position of professional trust are extremely concerning,” said Cpl. Melissa Lui in a statement Wednesday. “Although a charge has been laid, we are releasing a photo of Jiajian Sun as we believe there may be people with additional information that could assist in advancing the investigation.”

Anyone with info, or who wishes to report a potential crime, is asked to call Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212. Victim services is available to anyone who needs help.
