A number of recalls have been issued for products from an American toy company due to concerns over lead content and risks of choking or strangulation.
Health Canada posted nine recall notices on Wednesday for products sold by TheKiddoSpace, a Delaware-based company.
The products include holiday play sets, wooden peg figurines, finger painting and handwriting kits and a sensory swing. Some of the toys pose a risk of choking or ingestion, while a few products were found to contain lead and other hazardous substances.
Lead poisoning can cause anemia and can damage the brain and nervous systems. Children are at greatest risk, since they can absorb lead more easily, and there is no known safe level of exposure.
All of the affected products were made in China and mostly sold between 2023 and 2025.
As of Wednesday afternoon, Health Canada was unable to confirm how many of the items were sold in B.C and whether the items were sold through the company’s website or other online retailers.
If you own one of the recalled items, you should stop using it immediately and contact TheKiddoSpace for a refund.
