U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer will testify before the Senate Finance Committee on Tuesday morning on the Trump administration's trade agenda.

The hearing comes as President Trump has faced pushback over his latest sweeping tariff announcement which imposed a 10 percent baseline import tax on nearly all foreign trading partners and higher reciprocal tariffs on several nations. The move, which Trump has claimed would spark investment in the U.S., has raised concerns over a potential recession amid stock market dips.

Greer is expected to face heat as economic uncertainty tied to the trade war has divided voters and lawmakers. Seven GOP senators signaled their support for a bipartisan bill that would require Congress to approve Trump's tariffs on foreign nations.
