BURSTJust days after CP Police issued a warning asking Vanderhoof residents to stay away from railway tracks, RCMP were called to a fatal incident involving a pedestrian at a railway crossing.
Just before 9 p.m. on Aug. 30, Vanderhoof RCMP attended Burrard Avenue after receiving a report of a pedestrian being struck by a train.
A 57-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene. Burrard was closed in both directions, while emergency crews were on scene, at the time of the incident.
“Criminality is not suspected in the death, and the Vanderhoof RCMP continue to support the BC Coroners Service in their investigation,” said Staff Sergeant Kris Clark.
CP Police are continuing to warn Vanderhoof residents that trespassing on railway tracks or property is not only dangerous, but is illegal.
