Illegal drugs worth millions of dollars on the street won’t get there after police busted two drug labs and raided two other locations in the Fraser Valley at the end of April.
The RCMP dismantled an active fentanyl lab in Chilliwack and a large-scale ecstasy lab and pill press operation in Abbotsford after a months-long investigation, seizing 40 kilograms of finished fentanyl and 250 kilograms of ecstasy, also known as Molly.
The street value of the fentanyl, which fluctuates depending on purity, could be more than $5 million, while the ecstasy could be worth as much as $9 million, drawing on other busts made by RCMP.
“The seizure of these drugs and firearms represent a significant disruption to organized criminal activity, removing dangerous substances and weapons from circulation. This kind of investigation truly enhances public safety and improves community well-being,” said Cpl. James Bennett.
“Our investigators also found that one of the labs appeared to be in the process of expanding. Those expansion plans are believed to have been disrupted by our investigation.”
