Comedian and podcast host Adam Friedland said the recent spat between President Trump and tech billionaire Elon Musk shows both men are hurting and lashing out at one another in frustration.
"I'm a blue comedian, but I don't know if its right to forget that we are adults here and someone is suffering," Friedland told host Chris Cuomo Thursday evening during an appearance on NewsNation's "CUOMO."
"If you look at the tweets today, these gentlemen are in pain," he continued. "And I think we live in a tremendously lonely time right now and so we forget how painful it is to lose a friend."
Trump and Musk's relationship unraveled in real time on Thursday after Trump pushed back on the billionaire's criticism of the "big beautiful" spending bill with the legislative priorities he is trying to push through Congress.
Musk responded by accusing Trump of having ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein while the president threatened to cancel government contracts to the tech guru's companies.
One of the richest people on earth, Musk became a close ally of the president as Trump ran for the White House last fall, pouring millions into his campaign and eventually serving as a key adviser to the new Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Musk suggested on Thursday that Trump would not have won the election without him, and has used X, the social platform he owns, to advocate for the president's impeachment. He also floated a possible third party in America to appeal to "the 80 percent in the middle."
Despite the squabble, the Tesla CEO offered a minor sign of peace toward the White House later Thursday.
