A collision with an SUV in Burnaby sent an eleven-year-old boy and a nine-year-old girl to hospital this weekend.
On Saturday afternoon, around 12:45 PM, the children were walking on Hastings street, just east of Delta Avenue and close to Hythe Avenue, when they were hit by a grey Mercedes sedan travelling westbound.
Police say the driver stayed on the scene after the collision, and Hastings Street has been shut down in both directions as investigators gather evidence.
As of Saturday night, both children were still in hospital being treated for serious injuries.
Burnaby RCMP is asking anyone that may have witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken to police to please come forward.
Police are also asking for anyone with dashcam video on Hastings Street, from anywhere east of Springer Avenue, including feeder roads north and south of Hastings Street, between 12:30 p.m. and 12:45 p.m., on Saturday, May 2, to contact the Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 and quote file number 2026-14863.
