The United Kingdom’s King Charles III was admitted to the hospital on Thursday due to unexpected side effects from cancer treatments.
‘Following scheduled and ongoing medical treatment for cancer this morning, The King experienced temporary side effects that required a short period of observation in hospital. His Majesty's afternoon engagements were therefore postponed,” Buckingham Palace released in a statement.
The king was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in February 2024 and took a brief hiatus from public events after the diagnosis. He was previously hospitalized on March 27, 2024, as a result of medical treatments.

However, Charles continued to perform duties including the review of government papers and closed-door meetings before making a full return to general events last Easter.
The 76-year-old monarch’s new hospital stint will result in his absence from Friday scheduled appearances.
“His Majesty has now returned to Clarence House and as a precautionary measure, acting on medical advice, tomorrow's diary programme will also be rescheduled,” Buckingham Palace said.
“His Majesty would like to send his apologies to all those who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result.”
