California-based nonprofit Farm to Crag (F2C) is calling on all climbers to take part in this year’s Yosemite Farm to Crag event in May. Founded by American big wall climber Kate Rutherford, the mission of F2C is to “inspire action to solve the climate crisis by investing in regenerative food systems.”
F2C recently announced that registration is officially open for our highly anticipated 4th Annual Yosemite Farm To Crag gathering. “Our community Farm To Crag gatherings help us get inspired, provide us with hands-on learning, and show us how individuals, united for a cause, can take action for the planet,” said Rutherford.
“Join us in the Yosemite Valley to connect with like-minded adventurers, learn, and take action for a more sustainable future and climate change solutions.” The event, which will take place from May 9 to 11 in Yosemite Valley, includes two nights of camping; six farm-to-table gourmet meals crafted by award-winning chef Matt Dillon; hands-on educational workshops featuring insights from Indigenous leaders of
the Southern Miwuk Nation, soil scientists, food-as-medicine practitioners, chefs, professional climbers, and sustainable food producers; and a day of exploring Yosemite National Park.
Some of Rutherford’s noteworthy ascents include: first ascent of The Washington Route (VI 5.10, A1), Fitz Roy, Patagonia; free ascent of Freerider (VI 5.12+), El Capitan; first ascent of 10 Pounds of Tequila (VI 5.12+), Acopan Tepui, Venezuela; and a free ascent of Moonlight Buttress (V 5.12+), Zion National Park.
