BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) – Rapper Tory Lanez was attacked on Monday by another inmate at a prison in Tehachapi, California, and transported to an outside medical facility for treatment, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR).
Lanez, 32, whose legal name is Daystar Peterson, was wounded at 7:20 a.m. at a housing unit in the California Correctional Institution.
"Staff immediately responded, activated 911 and began medical aid," officials said.

Officials did not disclose the extent of Lanez's injuries, but a message posted to Lanez’s own Instagram account has alleged that he was stabbed 14 times during the attack. The post claimed that Lanez was stabbed across his back, upper body and head, and that he suffered collapsed lungs and needed the help of a "breathing apparatus" in the hospital.
“Despite being in pain he is talking normally, in good spirits, and deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through,” the post stated.
The prison's investigative unit has opened an investigation.
Lanez is serving a 10-year sentence for shooting hip-hop star Megan Thee Stallion in the feet in July 2020. The rapper, whose legal name is Megan Pete, testified during the trial that she and Lanez had left a party at Kylie Jenner’s Hollywood Hills home when Lanez fired the gun at the back of her feet, shouting for her to dance as she walked away from an SUV in which they had been riding.
She had bullet fragments in both feet that had to be surgically removed. It wasn't until months after the incident that she publicly identified Lanez as the person who had fired the gun.
