Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst lockdown lifted

Officials lifted a lockdown at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey, according to a Tuesday social media post announcing an "all clear."

Lock-downs at the McGuire and Ft. Dix campuses were first lifted before Lakehurst. Officials announced the end of the base's lockdown shortly before 12 p.m. EDT.

Earlier Tuesday morning, an announcement from the Air Force base asked personnel to take cover.

“ALL PERSONNEL ARE TO LOCKDOWN UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. ALL PERSONNEL OUTDOORS SHOULD TAKE COVER,” a Facebook post from the Air Force base reads.

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy (D) followed up, urging individuals on site to follow instructions.

"There is a currently a lockdown in place at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. If you are on the base, please follow the instructions of your commanders and emergency response officials," Murphy wrote in a post on X.

The cause of the lockdown is currently unknown. The base is located in Burlington County.

"My office is aware of the reported lockdown at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst and will be monitoring the situation closely. I will report back with any updates," Rep. Herb Conaway Jr. (D), an ex-Air Force officer wrote on X.
