Lakit Lake, near Cranbrook, B.C., is a popular destination in the East Kootenays, offering over 65 sport climbing routes on solid rock.
In this new video, Noah Beek climbs two sport routes at Lakit on gear, with Air Mail 5.12 and Redneck Rampage 5.13c. The video description reads, “Lakit Lake’s hardest route on gear, as an ode to his late friend Travis Foster. Filmed by Brandon Keller, Drew Leiterman, Alex Brassard and Cody Sugihara.”
Located 15 minutes from town, this south-facing crag features several popular lines. The climbing is characterised by steep, pumpy sequences with slopers, jugs, crimps, and long reaches, often on vertical to overhanging walls.
Routes like Kamikaze 5.10c and Fed Ex 5.11d are a few of the must-tries. The short, flat five-minute approach and free lakeside campground with an outhouse make it accessible and convenient. The East Kootenay Climbing guidebook, available in Fernie, Kimberley, and Cranbrook, provides detailed route information.
